From Virtual to Reality: Our First In-Person Meeting After 7 Years

This is my first blog about my life.. So please bear with me for any mistakes.

After a rollercoaster life journey and after waiting 7 years, today's (11th Aug) the day when I am finally meeting the most special person of my life, my friend, my first and only love, Megha!!! The girl who supported me, who cared for me when I needed someone the most, and who cherished and enjoyed my life more than me.

Background

I was a simple yet shy Marwadi boy originating from Indore, who is working with his first company after the graduation in Pune and preparing for GATE entrances, and she was a disciplined Bengali girl (a year senior to me) from Kolkata also preparing for GATE.  We both met in 2017, on an online GATE preparation app called GradeUp in the discussion section of a question, where she was justifying her hypothesis and theory and I'm contradicting her intuition. This led to a healthy discussion, counters and we connected soon on the not so popular chatting platform Hangout!
Time flies, and during this 7 year journey with her I saw a lot of beautiful colours of life, bright as well as dull, learned the life lessons on friendship, crush, love, fights, breakdowns, depression etc but we never ever met once in these 7 years long journey. I'll skip detailing this part, as it would require separate blogs in itself. 😅
Currently I am working as a software engineer in one of the firm, remotely from home, and she's working with another employer in Bangalore, and we are very good friends.

Night before the first meet up

I visited Bangalore for my office work every 4 months and staying in a company's sponsored hotel. After all these hiccups and so many requests, she agreed on meeting me tomorrow. I was very happy hearing this and little nervous as well, as its the first time I'm meeting her in person in the 7 years. I kept my nervousness aside and started planning for the meet, I ordered her favourite fruit and nuts and almonds dairy milk silks, cookies, wafers along with a book. I also started capturing the hotel freebies, nuts cookies, packed juices too :P , as I'm still a Baniya. I put all the stuffs in my bag, checked the destination, it would be a 24 KM road travel, set an alarm of 6:30 AM and went to sleep.

D-Day 11th Aug (Sunday)

I woke up thinking its the time, checked the watch it's 2:30 AM 😞 This activity was repeated at 4:30, 5 AM, 6:15 as well, and then at 6:15 I turned off the not so useful the alarm of 6:30AM.

I took a bath, got dressed and got ready, it was 7:30 AM, ate my breakfast and caught the 8:15 BMTC bus. It took 1.5 hours and I reached the destination at 9:30. I called her, but something urgent came up and hence she informed me that she'd come at 10:30 AM.

It was 10:30, she called me and informed me that she's on the way and asked me to come up towards the entrance gate. I reached there and was waiting restlessly for the first sight of her.
Wait............
Wait............

And there comes a cute (gained some weight) girl from far behind the tree, walking like a teddy bear, smiling, waving and looking at me with her big black eyes (wo kali kali aankhein). I wave her back and we walk around the lanes covered with trees in refreshing air and amazing weather because Bangalore ka weather .....

Then we went to the city mall, roam around there, she noticed I've a different voice in real, and then we went to McD and ordered some beverages, a lemon ice and a cold coffee. I was very happy to meet her as a friend, but at the same time the thought that I lost the most complete and compatible partner dominated and made my face neutral. I was avoiding looking at her face, as my Dam of emotions might fail and burst.
She pointed out that I was looking upset (I tried not to look upset), and after that I lost the battle, and tears came off my eyes.

Silenceeeeee.....................No words from both sides. I wiped my face, she was smiling, though I know she felt sad from inside too. She changed the topic, and asked me what I bought for her, I gave her the book and the chocolates and she grins. Then we took a pic and left McD.

Then we went to smart buy, she took some fruits (apple, pears, pomegranate and kiwi) for the Somwar (Monday), 2 steel glasses, and started looking for something for me, and I keep saying I don't need anything, you already gave your time, that is enough. But she doesn't listen and keeps on looking here and there, at the end she would't find anything worthy and we checkout from there.

She was feeling sad as she really wanted to give me something, then I asked her about the nearby nursery and then we walked for another 2 kms to the journey. We explored the different plants in the nursery, she was very happy and excited looking at those plants asking the questions about the maintenance, water requirements etc. Then we bought 2 Jade plants, as a gift for each other but she forced to pay for both of them 😑 . Now one of her plant officially is with with me and the other not so mine's Jade is with here (I'll make "not so mine" -> "mine" pretty soon, don't worry)

Then I handed her the rest of the stuff which I bought, and she was not ready to accept 😞. With some blackmailing and request she took the bag, I walked her nearby to her place and bid her goodBye with a heavy heart. Then I caught the bus to my hotel with a heavy heart thinking If we would be able to meet again ever in this life as we both are already in our late twenties, which are treated like year droppers of an Indian Marriage Institute.

I'm staying in Bangalore till 22nd Aug, wish me luck and pray for us.
